Design team make...Another Tag..Another Tale

Hello everyone...Genny here again. For this weeks make I decided to make another tag. This one continues the story of my Grandmother. I so enjoyed making last weeks, that I decided to do another. I began by covering the tag itself with some more of the beautiful paper from the set brought to us by Craftwork cards..the shabby vintage range. Both the tags and the papers are available from Julie here at JB crafting Supplies. To to be the basis of the tag I stamped this old english prayer which was from my stash but very much was the way that my Grandmother lived her life. No matter how busy she was, she always made time for her friends.

I can always remember when they got together to put the world to rights..lol. I remember the scents that they wore and their pretty dresses. Quite often when they got together they brought their sewing along and you would see their needles flashing as they chattered and laughed. That gave me the idea of the pansies. They are from a rubber stamp set by Joanna Sheen called embroidered flowers. The whole sheet of stamps reminds me of all the table cloths, chair backs and tray cloths that they spent many hours on. I am lucky enough to have many of the pieces myself and have sewn some myself to add to the collection. So in thinking of these, I stamped out the pansies and the leaves and coloured them with my promarkers, cut them out and used them to edge the prayer. For the base of the tag I used some lace stamps from my stash, then coloured them to match and then added them to the tag. Finally I added a bow and a butterfly and dragonfly.

Now as I look at the tag, I see the ladies with their sewing in my minds eye, their sewing on their laps, the laughter of their stories and as fanciful as it may seem, am transported back to a happy place. This is one of the fantastic things about tag art..it doesn't too long and you can build your own story or a simple memory...whatever you like. I even fancy having a go at one featuring one of my cats..I may do that one over the next couple of weeks.

Next week I will be working with another wonderful stamp from the Stampendous range. Julie has a wonderful collection of stamps in the range of crafting goodies she has instore. If you ever have any questions about anything that I have made..please just get in touch via Julies facebook page and I will be more than happy to get back to you. So until next week...take care and happy crafting.

DT make - vintage Paris candle

Hi everyone! Hope your weekend has not been too bad - we've had rain but no thunder & lightening yet. Still very humid though.
When I was looking through the design sheets on the Vintage Floral CD from Crafter's Companion I thought that the Paris images would look good on a candle.
I picked a design & colour out. Taped some tissue paper onto some copy paper & printed the design onto the tissue.
Tried the images around the candle to see where I wanted them.
Placed some greaseproof paper around the candle, pulling it tight & making sure there were no creases on the image sheet.
Carefully heated the image with my heat gun, making sure the greaseproof was held tight & watching for creases.
This was the first time I had tried this with a printed image & I am pleased wth how it turned out.
Hope you like it.
Thanks for stopping by,
Bev xx

Halcyan Days from Crafters Companon

Hello everyone..Genny here. Sometimes when you are on a design team you get to work with a product that in the normal run of things, you wouldn't pick because you think (wrongly) that it wouldn't suit your crafting style or necessarily inspire you. How wrong was I. I absolutely love this cdrom from Crafters Companion. There is something so very nostalgic about all the images on this cd and once I started crafting with it...I just couldn't stop. As you will notice over the next few weeks...lol Above is one of my favourite images... the hare. I'm calling it a hare because of it's long ears. As most of you know I live in the countryside and this has a very 'country' feel to it. I love the gingham papers and they will always come into use in all your other crafting. I'm thinking of using this image for a picture in my kitchen.
All of the images on this cdrom are of the work of textile artist Abigail Mill. As I've said the images have a very nostalgic feel, very whimsical and calm. There is not one image on this cd that I couldn't use. There are also lots of images of beach huts and seaside views. Pictures that make me think of childhood holidays and lazy summer days. My head is still so full of ideas that I aim to share with you all.
These four cards are my first selection and are really easy cards to make. I have mounted the image onto a toning cardstock and then I embellished with fabric based flowers and different braids from my stash. If you are in need of embellishments please get in touch with Julie here at jb-crafting supplies. A lot of the ones that I have used come from Julies shop. There really is something magical about this cd and it is the perfect excuse to get out all your braids, ribbons, lace and flowers. The imagery of the sewing is so good it feels so right to add the texture that the flowers and ribbons bring.
I have to say that this cd has inspired me to get out my sewing machine as well. The images are made using layers of fabrics and lace, defined by the use of freehand machine embroidery. If you have any questions about any of the cards that I have made..please get in touch. I hope that this cd will inspire you as much as it has me. So until next time..take care and happy crafting.
