Final DT piece with Stampendous Stamps

Today was my final piece with the Stampendous Steam Punk Shoes stamps. I fancied doing a canvas, but wasn't sure how it would turn out.
I covered the canvas with gesso & stuck some spotty tissue to it. I spritzed some Cosmic Shimmer Mist in Bronze Blush onto the canvas waited for it to dry then spritzed it with some Adirondak Colour Wash in Cranberry.
While this was drying I found various small pieces of 'steam punky' type papers, ripped the edges & edged with frayed burlap distress ink.
I stamped 2 of the images, one onto tissue & one onto a piece of the paper.
Inked through a cog stencil onto the canvas using lamp black acrylic paint mixed with a texturising medium to give a bit of texture & dimension.
Arranged the paper pieces & stuck onto the canvas.
Brushed some mica powder over the cogs, (think you can just see the shimmer on the close up photo.) found some charms & attached using brads.
Inked around the edges of the canvas with frayed burlap distress ink.

Pop up box card and a lot of fussy cutting! (DT post)

Hi y'all!

If you have been following the blog (or me in general) you might remember that at the beginning of the month I received a lovely stamp by stampendous called Film Elements which I had a rather difficult time working with. Again, I say this was because I am much better at taking multiple stamps and putting them together rather than have a stamp that is already a collage. So what did I do? I cut them apart!

While they were very small stamps images individually, the lines were not too fussy and it was easy enough to do. These pop up box cards have been making the rounds lately and I thought now would be a great time to try one! I wont add instructions on how to make one here because I winged it but if you do a google search for 'Pop up box card' you will find many tutorials.

I used black card stock for my base, and white card stock for the panels. I used my dylusions to spray the top panels randomly, and then stamped and embossed with white a harlequin pattern. I stamped the same patter on the bottom white panels in black and white to tie them together. When making these boxes you want to separate and pop out your elements so instead of just using a plain piece of acetate, I stamped and embossed a flourish which I then cut out and glued into place. This gave me a space to place certain elements in the background while still looking like it all belonged together. From there I just stuck all the rest of my elements down fairly similar to the way they originally came on the stamp. A few of the pieces I stuck to acetate and a few I stuck straight into the card. As you can see on the left, the card just folds flat, ready for an envelope. When flat I do feel that it is missing something such as a sentiment but I have yet to figure out what I will place there. Suggestions always welcome!!

Im very happy with the final result and I hope you agree. I do think I will be making a few more of these fun box cards in the future!

Happy crafting to you all!

Sam.

4th Stampendous Stamps DT piece

This weeks DT piece had to be something quick as this week other non-crafty stuff got in the way of my crafting - boo! I thought that masks would be the way to go.
I inked through various masks.
I found the royalty free picture of the girl & dog over on the Graphic Fairy blog. Printed the image, cut out and inked around the edges.
Stamped one sentiment onto white card, cut out the shape of a speech bubble. stamped the other sentiment at the end of my yellow brick road.
Placed the girl & dog image on the yellow brick road & placed the speech bubble.

Lights camera action! Dt post (Sam)

Hello all of you lovely crafters!

I am very sorry that I have been slacking in my team duties as far as crafting goes but I swear, I have a good excuse! You see, I have been away on a long 3 week holiday to visit my family. It was a great trip and I am really missing it right now after being back for almost a week now but the feeling was lessened when I came home to find my dt stamp for this month from Julie amongst all the bills and junk mail. You can guess which out of the stack I opened first!

The stamp I received was this fun little collage stamp by Stampendous called Film Elements. Truthfully, I had a bit of a struggle with this one, but then again I always struggle a little bit with collage stamps as I am one who likes to create a collage from scratch. I like having individual elements to a stamp from which I can pick and choose and decide the order in which I would like them placed on the card in front of me. Regardless, I had fun colouring this in and I hope you enjoy what I have done with it in the end.

3rd DT post using Stampendous Stamps

Hi - hope everyone has had a good week & is enjoying the lovely weather.
For my 3rd DT piece using Stampendous Stamps Steampumk Shoes I decided to alter a box to keep all my brads etc in.
Having found a box, I cut pieces for the sides & top from Docrafts Papermania Chronology paper, distressed the edges using rusty hinge Distress Ink. Stamped images onto the sides.
Adhered the paper onto the box, went around the edges using frayed burlap DI.
Die cut pieces from brown card, attached them to the top of the box & used some Creative Expressions metallic gilding wax in midnight to give it an aged look.
Put some brads in the corners & a watch face & brad in the centre.

2nd DT post using Stampendous Stamps

I decided to make a card this week for my DT piece using Stampendous Stamps - Steampunk Shoes.
I stamped the heels onto super smooth card & coloured using Creative Expressions Cosmic Shimmer watercolours. I love the shimmer of these watercolours but this does not come out on the photo - makes the shoes seem metallic. Cut out the image.
Took some brown card & made a square card.
Ran some kraft card through my Grand Calibur using a Die'Sire Embossalicious folder - a stitch in time. Cut this down using part of a Marianne Creatables die - Anja's Square. Coloured this using crushed olive & frayed burlap on the edges. I liked how this brought out the watches.
I die cut some more craft card using a Marianne Design Creatables die - oval frame and coloured & distressed with olive green & frayed burlap distress inks.
Die cut a sentiment using Tonic's everyday sentiments set 2 & coloured using the olive green distress ink.
Stuck the square onto the brown card - decided to use it as a diamond. Stuck the oval in the centre & the shoes in the centre of the oval, leaving the edges to give a bit of dimension.
Die cut some kraft card using Tonic's Antique Frame Tag Die, did two of these & cut them in half. Coloured using the olive green & frayed burlap. Stuck 2 of the pieces at each side of the oval & the others at the bottom corners. Cut the sentiment so I could put some in each top corner.
Found some brads in my stash - eyelet & outlet brads, watch parts. Placed one at top & bottom of oval.
I stamped the 'click your heels!!' sentiment onto some kraft card but decided it did not stand out enough so stamped it onto some white super smooth, cut out using a Spellbinder Medallion 2 die. Edged with olive green distress ink & adhered this to the bottom right using foam pads for a bit of height.

DT piece with Stampendous Stamps

Hi - I was sent some great stamps for this DT piece - Steampunk Shoes from Stampendous.
I decided to make a tag.
I ran the tag through my GC using a Die'Sire Embossalicious folder - antique keys. I distressed this using Distress Inks - rusty hinge over all the tag then barn door around the edges.
I had found a royalty free image on Free Vintage Digital Stamps, I printed this out onto some super smooth card, cut the image out. Used some Cosmic Shimmer Watercolour paint in orange gold to paint the wings of the image.
Stamped out the shoes using gold ink & gold embossing powder. Coloured the shoes using Cosmic Shimmer Watercolour in lava red & yellow sun.
Printed the sentiment onto brown paper using black Archival ink, distressed the edges using barn door distress ink.
Went around the edge of the image using Creative Expressions Metallic Gilding wax - golden light & deep red, and around the shoes with the deep red.
Used the rusty hinge distress ink to colour the string.
